Howdy, I'm Hassaan Raza. I'm the CEO and Co-Founder of Tavus. Tavus is a AI research lab focused on human computing, the pursuit of teaching machines how to be human. My background is in computer science, and before Tavus, I was a software engineer for many years as well as a PM (being a SWE was more my vibe though, I like building). I spend most of my time these days in San Francisco at the Tavus office in the Mission (come visit!) working with an insane team. This website was made for fun, but primarily to hold context for my digital twin.
Leading an awesome team building frontier human simulation models and human-computer interfaces to teach machines (and agents) how understand and empathize with humans.
Shilling GCP and doing some ML stuff
Led security/OS projects for macOS as EPM/SWE
Started a product studio, worked in a few different industries as a SWE, went to UT for CS
Started at HP at the ripe age of 16 and it almost turned me away from tech. Mostly because I was an edgy teen probably.
I'm generally pretty easily entertained, but some topics that specifically interest me are: how humans and computers communicate with each other (poorly), cars/racing (I'm a diehard American car guy; I'm a GM boomer at 28), vintage computing and computing history (I hoard old computers), architecture (specifically brutalist architecture), corporate strategy failures (Palm, DaimlerChrysler, etc.), and overall, the history of design and technology (hence this website).
